Why Choose Us?
The Team

Dr. Terry Cowgill, DDS
Dr. Terry Cowgill’s journey from a small town in Minnesota to becoming a trusted local dentist is one of grit, humor, and a whole lot of hard work. Raised in Caledonia, Minnesota, Terry had a front-row seat to the values of small-town life — honesty, integrity, and a strong sense of community. He took those values with him when he headed to the University of Minnesota to pursue dental school, and he’s been fixing teeth ever since.Terry started practicing dentistry in 1994, and since then, he’s been the guy you can count on when your smile needs some attention. But his talents don’t stop at the dental chair. In 2019, Terry had the honor of being named Festmaster of La Crosse’s Oktoberfest — a role that saw him trading in his dental tools for a stein and lederhosen, leading one of the region’s biggest celebrations with all the energy and enthusiasm you’d expect from someone who knows how to have a good time. When he’s not tending to his patients or leading Oktoberfest festivities, Terry’s at home with his wife, Shelly and three kids — one son, Jonah and two daughters, Grace and Sophie — juggling family life like a pro. And like any self-respecting Minnesotan, he tries to golf. Key word: tries.Dr. Cowgill has been doing his thing for decades, and whether he’s working on a root canal or a bratwurst, he’s got one mission: to make people feel good, laugh, and maybe even teach them a little something along the way.

Dr. Michelle Schoene (Cowgill), DDS
Meet Dr. Michelle Schoene—a woman who’s been putting smiles on faces for 30 years in the Coulee Region. She graduated from Marquette University in 1991 and the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1995. But it’s not just the fancy degrees that make her stand out. Dr. Schoene’s known for her gentle touch, treating every patient like part of the family. And if you think that’s impressive, here’s a kicker for ya: She’s been married to Dr. Cowgill for three decades. That’s right, 30 years of partnership, both in life and dentistry. Born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin, she’s a true Badger through and through.Together, Dr. Schoene and Dr. Cowgill have raised three wonderful kids—Grace, Jonah, and Sophie. When she's not fixing teeth or chasing down the perfect smile, you’ll find her running, hot yoga-ing, playing pickleball, and indulging in her creative side with painting, drawing, or tinkering away on her ukulele. Talk about well-rounded!Dr. Schoene’s been at it for three decades, and you can bet she’s not stopping anytime soon.

Kristen
Administrative Assistant
Kristen didn’t start out with dentistry as her plan — life had other ideas — but along the way, she found herself drawn to it, and that passion has only grown since. It all started back in college, where her interest in teeth and smiles sparked a journey that eventually led her right where she is today. It wasn’t the easiest route, but then again, who said it had to be? A proud Onalaska native, Kristen’s roots run deep in her community, and it has shaped her in ways she’ll never take for granted. But let’s be real, the thing that really keeps Kristen going? Being a mom. Brody and Brock are her world, and soon, she’ll be welcoming Grace, her stepdaughter, into the family. With her fiancé, Jim, by her side, they’ve built a life centered around family, the outdoors, and making memories. When they’re not busy being parents, you’ll find Kristen and her family outside. Whether it’s hunting, fishing, hiking, or traveling, nature’s their happy place. That’s where she truly feels at peace — surrounded by the beauty of the world, breathing in the fresh air, and taking it all in. It’s in those moments that she’s reminded that life’s not just about the destination — it’s about the journey.

Heather, RDHH
Heather’s been in the dental game for over 25 years, and if you ask her, it’s more than just cleaning teeth — it’s about helping people take charge of their health, one smile at a time. She’s spent years in the La Crosse area doing just that, but her passion for giving back doesn’t stop there. Heather’s an avid volunteer, both locally and globally, always looking for ways to lend a hand where it’s needed most. Helping others? That’s what really gets her going. When she's not in the office, Heather’s out in nature, exploring everything the Coulee Region has to offer. She’s a disc golf enthusiast, always up for a round or two, and recently, she’s been trying her hand at pickleball — because why not? Between all that, she’s got a knack for snapping pictures of sunsets, flowers, and whatever catches her eye. She’ll tell you she’s no photographer, but if you ask her, it’s a simple joy that keeps her happy. Heather’s all about balance — whether she’s providing care, volunteering, or soaking in the outdoors, she’s committed to making the world a little bit better, one day at a time.
